Concert Series #1: Concrete Beach

Photographing live concerts can be an exciting challenge. I love to try and capture some of the mood and excitement that the musicians are delivering onstage. The best bands offer dramatic performances that convey a wide range of emotion that can provide great visuals along with the music.

I recently photographed a series of concerts at The Vault, a music hall and pub in New Bedford, MA. The venue is in a former bank (hence the name), with a large stage, good lighting, and plenty of open space for fans to dance and view the performance.

The first featured group in my concert series is Concrete Beach, a band that describes there music as “Alternative Reggae”. The group features lead guitarist/vocalist Zachary Paul; electric violinist Nathan Mendonca; Roland Furtado on bass; and drummer Jeremy Thorpe.
