Whether he’s performing jazz, funk or R&B, drummer Joaquin Santos is a powerful performer. He extends a musical family tradition; his father, Jackie Santos, performed for years with the R&B and soul music group Tavares and also performed with artists like the Temptations and Gladys Knight.
Taking after his father, Joaquin has been working as a professional drummer for the past fourteen years, including touring with Grammy award winning Tavares to South America and with Earth, Wind & Fire. He regularly performs in venues around New England with his Dope Lotus ensemble, a changing group of talented musicians and vocalists from the region.
